In the last day of February, we'll introduce you to Vesi, who's behind "ManenkataHandmade". A very smiling, positive, kind, and fun girl who puts her heart into every creation. If we had to define the color of her soul, it would be white with a touch of golden dust, because she is ethereal, like a fairy from a tale.
What's your name?
Veselka Velkova
What's the name of your business?
ManenkataHandmade is my page, it's still just a hobby for me, but I hope someday it will become my main activity.
Tell us more about yourself.
I'm a crazy head, I love to challenge myself by making different things in different areas. I don't limit myself to scrapbooking, I try sewing, knitting. I can't repeat the things I make, so they are unique. I'm a good soul and I suffer from it, but I don't stop helping and hoping for the best.
How long have you been involved in crafting/handmade?
I have been crafting for about 3 years, my initial attempts were very timid.
How and why did you choose to pursue this exactly?
We were invited to a wedding and I wanted to present our gift in a different way, I saw an exploding box and I liked it a lot, but the family were very close to us and I wanted to make something similar for them. I started looking for information on how to make such a box and that was the moment I got hooked.
What do you create?
I make mini albums (thinking about it, I have most of them ;) ), cards, exploding boxes, knit tulips, scarves, sew tulips, hats, and recently I've been trying quilling. Surely there's something I'm forgetting.
Describe why you enjoy being an artist in 3 words.
Oh, three words are too few. It's a magical world I dive into, rest, express myself, and leave a piece of my heart.
Favourite colour combination?
I love yellow, but for crafting, I prefer white combined with mint color.
Where do you feel inspired the most?
At home, in the evening after a long workday. The kids running around, while I cut paper.
What do you like to listen to while you work?
Children's laughter, sometimes an argument about who got the bigger piece of cake.
How do you spend your time when you’re not working?
I look at new schemes, ideas, models, lessons, and strive to learn something new.
If you weren’t an artist what your job would be?
The truth is, I'm not just a artist, I feel like the many-armed Shiva, I'm a mother, a housewife, I have a regular job until 5 where I'm a cashier, and the moment I'm a creator is late at night or during the weekends when I don't have any other work to do.
Would you like to add anything else?
This is me, very layered, different, persistent, uncompromising, kind, or in one
